    Lovely Anand Bio

    Lovely Anand is an Indian politician who served as a former member of the 10th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament. She is the granddaughter of Shri Rameshwar Prasad Singh who was a freedom fighter of India.

    Early life and Education

    Lovely Anand was born on 12 December 1966. Currently, she is 55 years old as of 2021. She belongs to a well-connected political family as the cousin of her mother named Madhuri Singh was a member of parliament in the 1980s from the Congress Party. She holds a BA degree from Ranchi University.

    Political career

    She started her political career by serving as debutant candidate for the new Bihar people’s party which was established by her husband. She defeated a heavyweight parliamentarian Kishori Sinha who was the wife of former Chief Minister of Bihar Satyendra Narayan Sinha. In the 1994 Lok Sabha by-election from the North Bihar constituency of Vaishali. Later in the 1996 election, she didn’t contest and she failed to again win it in 1999.

    She was twice elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly from Bihar as she once won in Barh and again in Nabinagar.

    She stood as a Samajwadi Party candidate in the 2014 general election. She claimed that she had changed the party allegiance because the Indian National Congress had neglected her after she had unsuccessfully stood as their candidate in the 2009 National election in that constituency and the 2010 Bihar assembly elections from Alamnagar constituency.

    In 2015, she became involved with the Hindustani Awammorcha party, and she was elected from the Sheohar constituency but she lost that election by a margin of around 400 votes.

    She has served as a Member of Parliament from 1994 to 1996 for the Vaishali constituency. She was preceded by Shivsharan Singh and was succeeded by Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.

    Personal life

    In 1991, she married Anand Mohan Singh and they have three children named Chetan Anand Singh, Surbhi Anand, and Anshuman Anand. She resides in Patna. Her husband is serving a life sentence for abetting murder. He had twice been MP for Sheohar in 1996 and 1998.

    Controversy

    She continued to protest the innocence of her husband and she stood for election on that basis. She claimed that her husband is the victim of a political conspiracy and has never been a criminal or gang leader. She and some other people were also found guilty in the same case as her husband. It was determined in 2007 when she was a member of the JDU party but later she got bail and was acquitted on request to the High Court.
