Achievements Kanimozhi organised Job Fairs in various districts of Tamil Nadu, beginning as an experiment in June 2008 at Kariyapatti, a village in Virudhunagar District; by March 2010, the experiment had spread across various villages like wildfire, providing jobs to over one lakh unemployed youth spread across five districts, namely Nagercoil, Vellore, Udhagamandalam, Tiruchirapalli, and Virudhunagar; she plans to conduct similar job fairs.

Kanimozhi worked in journalism before entering politics, serving as a sub editor for The Hindu, editor in charge of Kungumam (a Tamil weekly magazine), and features editor for Tamil Murasu, a Singapore-based Tamil newspaper.

Private life
Kanimozhi received a master’s degree in economics from Madras University’s Ethiraj College for Women after attending Presentation Convent in Church Park, Chennai. In 1989, she married Athiban Bose, a businessman from Sivakasi (they are since divorced), and then in 1997, she married G. Aravindan, a Tamil writer based in Singapore. Her son’s name is Aditya Aravindan.
